If you read the American Express Membership Rewards forum on flyertalk.com, you might have noticed increasing activity and speculation about the American Express Centurion Lounge in the San Francisco International Airport. The thread is called Centurion Lounge SFO [Future] and most of the discussion as of late focuses on:
- The opening date – speculation is that it will be open the first week in November, and one poster even said it would be on November 4th, based on reading it in a Tweet
- The location – pictures show it as Terminal 3, adjacent to gates 74 and 75. Terminal 3 in SFO used by United for domestic flights.
- The photographic evidence – including a picture of the SFO American Express Centurion Lounge ‘green wall’ of live plants recently installed behind the check-in desk.
And just in case you don’t have a good ‘mental map’ of the SFO airport, this might help…Bottom Line:
I’m not exactly thrilled with the location of the lounge, but the pictures make it seem like the lounge will be opening soon and joining the other American Express Centurion Lounges in DFW, LAS, and LGA. An American Express Centurion Lounge was also rumored to open in Miami by the end of the year but it’s Flyertalk.com thread is hinting of an early 2015 opening.
As an SF resident who flies on United most frequently, I am eagerly looking forward to it. Its proximity to the International Terminal is a plus for those with a long layover.
@Randy – consider yourself lucky! You are in the perfect situation to maximize visits to the lounge. I’m jealous!
