Yesterday Hyatt announced that it would be launching a new brand of lifestyle hotels in the summer of 2015 called Hyatt Centric. It’s already jokingly being called an Andaz Jr., but it seems like a more hip version of a Hyatt Place hotel. Since the roll out is in just a few months, speculation is that existing Hyatt hotels are going to be remodeled and rebranded into the Hyatt Centric concept. While the Hyatt press release said there were going to be “more than 15 Hyatt Centric locations” the initial graphic listed only these twelve locations:Here are a couple guesses per this thread on Flyertalk.com about specific properties becoming Hyatt Centric:
- Long Beach: Hyatt at the Pike
- San Francisco: Hyatt Fisherman’s Wharf
- Santa Barbara: Hyatt Santa Barbara
- Key West: Hyatt Key West
- Miami: Hyatt South Beach
- Atlanta: Hyatt Midtown
- Chicago: Magnificent Mile or Loop Hyatt
- New York: Hyatt Times Square or Hyatt Union Square
- Houston: Hyatt the Woodlands
- Park City: Hyatt Escala Lounge
- Washington DC: Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill
- Paris: Hyatt Madeline
Bottom Line:
I love speculation – anyone care to guess if these guesses are correct? In the meantime I’m excited about the Hyatt Centric concept, and I love some of the photos from the Hyatt Centric webpage so much that I’m going to post them again. Some of these photos, especially of the lobby/bar/library areas also remind me of American Express Centurion Lounges, but in a purple color palate.
You can add Hyatt New York Herald Square to the list as some of the photos on the Hyatt Centric website are of that property.
All of the properties you mention are much better quality than a Hyatt Place. “Andaz Jr.” Is thee more appropriate moniker.
I love when these things apply to me, because they so often don’t. I’m sure a lot of readers feel this way. 6 of the hotels on that list are ones that I visit at least every year–some much more. The Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill needs…help…fast. If that’s the hotel that they’re rebranding, I’m thrilled that it’s going to get some TLC (hopefully).
