A Flyertalk.com thread started in 2009 in the Starwood Preferred Guest forum has recently resurfaced and the topic of the thread is “Hall of Shame – Worst SPG experiences“. It asks where have you had the most revolting experience? So where did Flyertalk posters say that they would not stay again?

Before we reveal the list – which is really long – the thread rules say anyone can nominate any SPG property to be on the list, and that particular property will stay on the list until the original poster asks for the property to be removed. The thread also offers the classic Flyertalk disclaimer of YMMV – Your Mileage May Vary. So which SPG properties made the dis-honor roll?

Bottom Line:
I will be the first to admit that the list needs a little bit of pruning considering some of the hotels listed such as the Westin Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood, FL is no longer a Westin, and the Four Points Baltimore Washington International Airport is in the process of being bulldozed. But I still find the list interesting. Has anyone had a good or bad stay at any of the SPG properties listed above?

Had a great stay at the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa. The Deluxe Ocean front rooms are beautiful, there is ample parking, the beach access and pool are both great. The resort fees stink but all resorts have those these days.

That’s some record and I wholeheartedly agree.
Westin Las Vegas has been my worst stay ever at a Starwood prop. Shocking that the GM of the property has been in the position for over 10 years, guess its one property they just dont care about
One complaining traveler doesn’t make a bad hotel. I have stayed at a few of the hotels on the list without issues. Even the best hotels on Tripadvisor have one/some horrible reviews. I think once you have multiple nominations for the list of s game, you are getting an indication of a below average hotel…
Lot of Pretty good hotels are getting trashed based on a single bad stay, which can happen to anyone. The Le’Meredian Marakesh was absolutely wonderful when I went and doesn’t deserve to be “featured” on any list with the 4P New Orleans Airport.
Had a great stay at Westin Paris.
Last week at Four Points Logan. Found it to be great.
Two years ago at London Park Lane – loved it.
I am picky and notice details. The list convinced me to ignore such lists unless the complaints are egregious.
Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit in Bangkok included in the hall of shame? NO WAY?
has not a great stay at the sheraton term 2 CDG paris airport… food expensive/stay not friendly/room small and a/c not great.. etc
add Sheraton Melb to the list , booked a Suite in March 2015 and was underwhelmed and very disappointed for a revenue stay
The property opened on Apr 27, 2014 and the rooms were extremely drab and dated for an alleged less than one year old property
Definitely not on the aspirational list, soooo disappointed
i feel so sad
