American Express has announced Small Business Saturday which is great news! It will be Saturday, November 28th (which is not really a surprise.) Last year you were able to get 3 x $10 credits on your eligible American Express cards when you shopped at participating small businesses. Boy, we had some fun and ended up with around $270 in statement credits (free merchandise) last year! You can read all about that here. Unfortunately, Amex has not announced what this year’s credits will be but, I am hoping that they are as good or better then last year! But, if you haven’t started to think about getting ready for the big shopping day, what are you waiting for?
Small Business Is Saturday Nov 28, Are You Ready?
If you haven’t started thinking about what you can do, now might be a good time. If you intend to apply for more cards, you might need the extra time to apply and get your cards now. Here are some good strategies that I am working on:
1.) Looking at how many cards I have that will be eligible for the promotion. Last year, American Express Bluebird and Serve cards were eligible. If you don’t have these, this is a potential area were you can add a card.
2.) Accessing if we need to apply for more Amex cards. Are there any offers that I was thinking about taking advantage of anyway and apply for them now so that I will have the card for Small Business Saturday.
3.) Adding authorized users to my American Express cards that don’t have a fee to do so. Authorized user cards with unique card numbers have always been eligible for their own statement credits on Small Business Saturday. See below for individual card information on additional cardholders.
Bottom Line
At least we know that there will be a Small Business Saturday this year, I guess we will have to wait to hear about how it will work for statement credits this year. All I know if that I have a big happy face marked on my calendar for November 28th!
