You Can Still Earn Delta Medallion Status for 2016

Last month, we wrote about how Delta Selling Medallion Qualifying Miles at Astronomical Prices, which was suppose to end December 31, 2015. Despite the high prices, Delta is continuing to sell Medallion Qualifying Miles through January 31, 2016, which will count toward your MQMs for 2015 which earns you Medallion Status in 2016.

As a reminder, you’ll only be offered them if you’re a current SkyMiles member, Silver Medallion, Gold Medallion, or Platinum Medallion are within 10,000 MQMs of the next status level. If you don’t fall into one of these categories, you may not be able to buy MQMs.

Before you buy MQM’s remember the following:

  • MQMs purchased will be deposited to your 2015 MQM balance
  • MQMs purchased through this offer are non-refundable
  • Dollars spent toward MQM purchase will apply to your 2015 MQD balance
  • You may purchase a minimum of 2,500 up to a maximum of 10,000 MQMs for one SkyMiles account for the 2016 Medallion year

Bottom Line

Buying MQMs is not something I would recommend especially if you’re currently a Platinum Medallion, since they are charging the highest prices for Plats since they’re so close to Diamond Medallion Status, however you still have time since this offer has been extended through January 31, 2016.
