One of the perks of Hyatt Diamond Status, which many of our readers recently earned thanks to Hyatt matching others to Hyatt Diamond status last year is the breakfast benefit.

As explained in the Hyatt Diamond benefits, it includes:

  • Receive exclusive access to the Regency Club or Grand Club lounge featuring complimentary continental breakfast and evening hors d’oeuvres2. Enjoy daily complimentary full breakfast in hotels without a club lounge

And the terms for this state

Daily complimentary full breakfast inclusive of one entrée (or standard breakfast buffet), juice and coffee (tax, gratuity and service charges included) will be provided to the member and each registered guest in the room, maximum four (4) people. For stays at Hyatt Regency Bethesda, daily continental breakfast (tax and gratuity included) will be provided to the member and each guest registered in the room, maximum four (4) people. Breakfast is not valid for in-room dining. Benefit not valid when staying at Hyatt Place properties, Hyatt House properties, or Hyatt Residence Club resorts.

Taking a look at the benefit, it essentially means that if you’re Hyatt Diamond you get Club Lounge access, but if the hotel doesn’t have a lounge, then you get breakfast in the restaurant.

But what if the hotel DOES have a lounge, but you want breakfast in the restaurant? Here’s what I say: It can’t hurt to ask!

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza hotel, which has a small Regency Club in the lobby. I asked at check-in if that is where breakfast is served and the front desk agent said yes. I then asked if I would be able to take it in the restaurant instead, and sure enough, that was agreed!

I stopped by the club lounge one morning, which was packed, and only had a continental style breakfast. I skipped that and headed to the restaurant where I was able to partake in the $32 breakfast buffet each morning, which had several hot dishes, made to order omelets, and even included a mimosa or a bloody mary.

Bottom Line

Well most Diamonds may be satisfied to receive breakfast in the lounge, it can’t hurt to ask at check-in if you can take the breakfast in the restaurant. Sometimes they may say no, but I’m willing to met more often that not you’ll be pleased with the answer.

Have you stayed at any Hyatt’s with club lounges that allow you take breakfast in the restaurant? Feel free to share below!

  1. It’s even nicer when you actually earn the status. Hyatt does a great job of maintaining a profile in their system which I really am impressed with, such as when I checked into the Grand Hyatt Dubai the guest services manager came over when I was checking in and let me know all my preferences were taken care of including my NYT.s !

So when your standing there asking for something special their looking at your profile !

One of the main reasons those lounges are so busy are status matchers, Just Saying
