Despite the recent devaluation’s of Alaska Airlines redemptions on Emirates, there is some positive news for Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan elite members, which comes in the form of new partner benefits on British Airways.
Limited time offer: Enjoy elite benefits on British Airways
Between April 1, 2016 and September 30, 2016, our MVP® Gold and Gold 75K members are eligible for the following benefits when traveling with British Airways:
- Club World priority check-in and boarding at Seattle (SEA) and London-Heathrow (LHR) airports
- Fast Track security access at London-Heathrow (LHR) airport
- Access to the Terminal 5 Galleries lounge at London-Heathrow (LHR) airport
In addition, you can earn double Mileage Plan miles through September 30, 2016, when you travel between Seattle and London on British Airways.
Bottom Line
It’s nice to see that Alaska is adding some new partner airline benefits, though this is only for a limited time through September 30, 2016. It will be interesting to see though if this partnership goes well, if there is potential to extend these perks permanently.
Alaska Airlines has also been in the news lately, as it’s rumored that they may be trying to acquire Virgin America, so if that was to be true, I think we’d see a whole new line or partners such as Virgin Atlantic, instead of British Airways, which may be why these new benefits are just temporarily.
Anyone have any thoughts on these new perks, and why they may only be for a limited time? Feel free to share your thoughts below.
Hat Tip: One Mile at a Time
Not sure if we would see a Virgin Atlantic partnership if Alaska does acquire Virgin America. Delta owns a big chunk of Virgin Atlantic, and the love is not strong between Alaska and Delta right now.
