On a recent trip to Washington DC, I decided to stay at the Marriott Marquis Washington, DC, a Category 7 property meaning free nights start at 35,000 Marriott point per night (PointSavers at 30,00). This hotel is located near the Convention Center, however within walking distance to the downtown area so I’d recommend the location.
Upon arrival at check-in around 2:30pm, there was a queue to check-in, but after a few minutes I was called to the front where I learned that my room wasn’t ready and would be called when it was. I decided to head to lunch, and then headed back to the front desk where I was told my room was now ready (so much for being called?).
As a Marriott Gold (thanks to my status match from Starwood Gold status from my American Express Platinum Card) I was actually upgraded to a Executive King, which was a suite with a separate living room and bedroom.
The bedroom featured a comfortable king sized bed.
The bathroom had floor to ceiling windows which allowed for a lot of natural light.
Located on the 12th floor is the M Club lounge, which Marriott Gold and Platinum members receive complimentary access to.
The lounge had spacious seating areas as well as an outdoor terrace. There was also continental breakfast in the morning and appetizers in the evening.
Bottom Line
Overall as a relatively new hotel, I was impressed with the spacious guest rooms and the M Club Lounge. Location wise it was convenient to walk around the Downtown area.
