For those hoping to make it back home on Monday, and their plans called for air travel on United, many passengers faced unexpected delays as United Airlines grounded all of their domestic flights for more than 2 hours Sunday night due to a IT glitch. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time that United has faced IT issues grounding their flights.
United has issued a travel waiver for all their flights on January 22 – 23, 2017, allowing passengers to make changes to their flights without paying a change fee or a fare difference.
They’ve shared the following on Twitter:
A ground stop is in place for domestic flights due to an IT issue. We’re working on a resolution. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Per NBC News,
All of United Airlines’ domestic flights were grounded for more than two hours Sunday night because of a computer outage, the Federal Aviation Administration said as scores of angry travelers sounded off on social media.
International flights weren’t affected by the ground stop, which the FAA said was issued at United’s request.
Were any passengers facing the delayed United Airlines flights this weekend? Feel free to share your experience below.
Yes, I was at Newark on a flight which was delayed over 3 HOURS due to computer problems. The flight staff did nothing to help passengers with the delay or to cope with the delay.. We had to ask for water 3 times and when we asked about the differences in what the pilot was telling us versus texts received by United no one knew. We barely got a “Sorry” and there was NO COMPENSATION for the delay. United is a poorly run airline that does not respect its customers. I try NOT to fly United because of their consistent POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
