Ever wonder if there was a way to see if there have been reports of bed bugs at a hotel you’re planning on staying at? Now you can thanks to the Bedbug Registry which is a data base of bed bug reports at all the major hotels. It’s similar to TripAdvisor where you can share a review, but this is dedicated to bed bug reports.

If you’re thinking your hotel doesn’t have them think again. A front desk manager for a major hotel chain shared with me that bed bugs are more common than you’d think at the hotels especially in big cities. It’s not uncommon to have a report of them at least once a week!

Per the Bedbug Registry,

The Bed Bug Registry exists to give travelers and renters a reliable and neutral platform for reporting their encounters with bed bugs. Though most Americans have still never come across one, these retro pests are spreading extremely quickly across American and Canadian cities.

Bed bugs are easy to transport in luggage and very hard to get rid of. For this reason they have become an especial nuisance for hotels, dorms, hospitals, movie theaters, libraries, and other public spaces. You can’t tell whether a building or hotel room has them based on cleanliness – the bugs can thrive anywhere there are cracks and crevices to hide in.

  1. STill a valid website? The newest bedbug reports seem to be over a year old unless I am missing something?

  2. Unfortunately, in 2017 (and for some time) we live in a society where if your eggs were under-cooked or the clerk didn’t smile at you, you simply go on the internet and claim your room had bed bugs as a way to “get back”. Anyone relying on that website as a credible source is silly, as are those who have run out of topic for their blog and refer to it…

  3. It’s way too tempting for the manager of a hotel to report that the competitor down the block has bed bugs.
