The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans is located in the 1908 Beaux Arts Maison Blanche building in the French Quarter on Canal Street and just a block away from Bourbon Street. The property has 527 guest rooms and suites, as well as Club Level accommodations.

You can enter the hotel off of Canal Street, however the main lobby with registration is located on the 3rd floor of the hotel. There is also a nice outdoor courtyard on this level as well.

This property is part of the Fine Hotels and Resorts program for those holding the American Express Platinum Card or the The Business Platinum Card® from American Express OPEN.

Upon check-in, I was informed no complimentary upgrades were available as the hotel was full for the weekend I was here. However, when I inquired about a Club Level room, I was told it would be an extra $150 per night, as this is not included as a complimentary upgrade. I decided against the extra fee, and went with my deluxe double room on the 12th floor with a city view.

Bottom Line

Overall I was impressed with the hotel and the service received during the stay. The front desk agents were very friendly, despite not having any upgrades available.

If you’ve never been to New Orleans before, the hotel is located in the French Quarter, just a block away from Bourbon street, so you can easily explore without needing a rental car. Uber has a flat rate of $34 to/from the airport, which was about a 25 minute drive.

The hotel has a 24 hour fitness center, however if guests wish to use the spa facilities, there’s a spa facility fee of $25 per day.
