We’ve covered how W New York to become The Maxwell Hotel, Tribute Portfolio, however the latest is that it appears it’s not part of the Tribute Portfolio after all, and will just be unbranded hotel in the SPG program (for now).

The hotel sent to the following to guests with upcoming stays:

We know you have many choices when traveling to New York City and we appreciate having the opportunity to host you now and in the future.

On May 9, 2018, our hotel name will change from the W New York to The Maxwell New York City.   We want to inform you that we have updated your existing reservation and that your confirmation number will remain the same.  All hotel amenities and services remain unchanged so that guests may continue to receive the same level of service, first class amenities and hospitality that you have come to expect when you visit our hotel.

For Starwood Preferred Guest members, nothing will change. You will continue to be awarded SPG points and earn elite night credits for your stay with us.

Conveniently located on Lexington Avenue (at 49th Street) in the heart of Midtown, The Maxwell New York City is steps from Manhattan’s best restaurants, attractions and shopping.  Grand Central Terminal, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, Fifth Avenue shopping and Bloomingdales are only a few blocks from the hotel.

The Maxwell New York City is unlike anywhere else, just like the city we call home.  We look forward to your continued patronage and are excited for this new chapter at our hotel.

  1. The new name most likely is the “operating name” while the hotel undergoes a major renovation/transformation….I’m sure there’s more to come soon…
