Earlier this year, Delta rolled out their pre-select meal program, where Delta One customers traveling to any of Delta’s European destinations, as well as select cities in Asia and Australia are able to select their meal choices in advance of the flight, which has received positive feedback from passengers as over 50% are taking advantage of this offer.
Delta plans to expand to all remaining international destinations including Delta One and Delta Premium Select, as well as all First Class domestic meal flights later in 2018. Overall, being able to pre-select your meal is a great feature as it ensures that you’ll get your first choice in meal selection, and that allows for the right amount of each meal to be catered properly for these flights.
Delta will expanding Pre-Select meals in Delta One on the following domestic routes beginning 7/27:Â
- ATL to/from HNL
- BOS to/from LAX, SFO
- JFK to/from LAS, LAX, SAN, SEA, SFO
- LAX to/from BOS, DCA, JFK
- MSP to/from HNL
Additionally, the following inbound international routes, will also be rolling out Pre-select meals on 7/27: Â
- AMS (A350 aircraft only), ICN, NRT, PEK, PVG to DTW
- ICN to ATL
- PVG to LAX
Yes, I ordered it from ATL to MUC in May and it was great. I just wish they let you order 30 days in advance like AA does (and not have to wait for an email).
I haven’t had any experience with Delta’s pre-ordered meal offerings, but wanted to throw in a related comment. I have extensive experience with American’s domestic pre-ordered first class meals. While it’s great to know that you’ll be receiving the meal of your choice (or more importantly not receiving the one you *really* don’t want), this choice seems to have come at a cost. American has the same meal choices over and over and over and over and over. It’s gotten to the point where if I have a reasonable choice (price, flight times, connections) I’ll pick United/Delta over American just so I can *not* be confined to those repetitive choices.
