World of Hyatt routinely evaluates their hotels within their award categories and will generally make changes once a year. Hyatt announced their latest round of changes which go into effect soon, on March 18. Make sure if any of the properties that you are going up in category are interesting to you that you book them before the March 18th deadline.

Our annual award chart updates will take effect on March 18, meaning the number of points required for a free night at some hotels is changing. No new Categories have been added, and the points required for each Category will remain the same.

We wanted to be sure to let you know ahead of time so that you can plan and get the most out of your points. The chart below includes only the hotels that are moving up (requiring more points) or moving down (requiring less points) starting March 18.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • When you book before March 18, your reservations will follow the current free night award chart found here.
  • Reservations made on or after March 18 will follow the new free night award chart and incorporate the updates noted below
  • Existing reservations for nights on or after March 18 will receive a refund for the point difference if the hotel moved to a lower category

  1. Always use the words ‘annual devaluation’. That will at least create the spark so that players don’t sit on their points. Plus, it’s not inaccurate.
