Has Panera Bread Devalued Rewards Program?

Panera Bread has their MyPanera loyalty program, where you earn rewards based on how often you dine and what you order. However, it appears that the MyPanera loyalty rewards earned through the program might not be as lucrative as they’ve used to be.

Unlike competitors such as Starbucks that have more defined loyalty programs where clearly detail what rewards you’ll earn after so many stars, Panera’s program is much more vague on how/what rewards are earned, so if infant there is a change, it’s one that has likely slid under the table.

According to one PM&M reader who shared the following:

I’m a loyal Panera Bread customer, visiting them several times a week for lunch as it’s near my office. I typically order a Chicken Caesar salad from them, and would always get a free salad almost every other week if not more as part of the loyalty program.

However recently, my rewards have started changing and now all I’m earning is $1 off my next salad. This has happened for the last four rewards that I’ve earned despite not changing how often I go to Panera nor what I’ve been ordering. I probably spend close to $2,500 a year at Panera Bread, however if I’m only being given a $1 off, I’m probably going to go somewhere else for lunch, as I don’t find this to be very rewarding.

We’ve reached out to the Panera Bread Media team, but haven’t yet heard back from them to confirm if there are in fact changes in place to the MyPanera Rewards program.

In the meantime if you do go to Panera, they’re offering a $10 bonus card for every $50 in Panera Bread gift cards purchased November 13- December 31, 2019.

Are there any other MyPanera Rewards members who have received less lucrative rewards lately? Feel free to share in the comments below.

  1. Yes, I’ve also noticed a change lately, I used to get free You Pick 2’s and I haven’t anymore, now it’s just a dollar off, definitely a devaluation

  2. Was there today, nothing on my rewards, the add on bakery item for 99 cents is gone, it’s a cookie now for 99 cents and if you order the bakery item you do not get the 99 cents credit
