Bottom Line
It’s clear that American Express is doing as much as possible to retain current cardholders of the Platinum Card, given the current halt in travel including the temporary closure of the Centurion Lounges.
It’s nice to see American Express add these additional statement credits, which add up to $360 additional savings for 2020 if you’re able to max out on both the steaming and wireless service benefit, as well as the additional $200 Amex Travel credit which will be valid through the end of next year.
There’s no need to register for these credits, all you’ll need to do is spend on your eligible Platinum Card and the statement credit should be reflected automatically.
American Express is also currently giving out lucrative retention offers for the Platinum Card ranging from 50,000 Membership Rewards points with no spending at all to 30,000 Membership Rewards points with a spending requirement. If you’d like to see if you’re eligible for any retention offers on this card, call the retention line at 855-857-7657, and ask if there’s any retention offers available for your account.
What are your thoughts on the the $200 Amex Travel credit? Feel free to share in the comments below.Â
it says “you can start earning…” meaning, it doesnt seem its a straight forward credit. Maybe they ask for $2-5k in spending? I dont like the wording!
