Delta has two Sky Clubs at its hub at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). One is located in Terminal 2, and its larger is located at Terminal 4.
Delta has implemented many changes due to coronavirus, so this review will focus on what’s new in the club. Due to the pandemic, Terminal 2 is currently closed so the only lounge that is operating is at Terminal 4, which is open daily from 5:30am-10:30pm.
Access is reserved for Delta Sky Club members, Delta Reserve cardholders, American Express Platinum, American Express Business Platinum cardmembers, SkyTeam Elite Plus members traveling on any SkyTeam international flight, as well as passengers confirmed in the Delta One cabin on international and domestic flights.
Furthermore, Delta Platinum American Express cardholders can access the lounge for $39 per visit. Single visit passes have been discontinued a few years ago. You can view more details on how you can access the Sky Club.
You’ll enter the lounge on the ground level, where depending on how busy the lounge is and I imagine more based on staffing levels you’ll check-in here. However if it’s quieter then you’ll have to check-in once you take the escalators up to the 2nd floor.
All the check-in stations have plexiglass barriers due to the pandemic and you’re asked to scan your own boarding pass and even swipe your own credit card. Face masks are required by everyone in the lounge when not eating or drinking.
There’s plenty of seating it the lounge with furniture removed and rearranged to allow for social distancing.
Delta still has a full bar and it appears that all drinks are being offered. When it comes to the buffet, all the items are now in individual containers as a measure added for everyone’s safety.
One of my favorite parts of the Delta Sky Club at Terminal 4 is the outdoor Sky Deck. During my visit no one was outside, so it allowed for a nice spot to have some snacks prior to my flight.
Bottom Line
Delta has made many changes to its JFK T4 Sky Club due to the pandemic including reducing seating to encourage more space for everyone. Throughout the entire travel journey with Delta including in the Sky Club, face masks are required. They’ve added social distance markets and signage throughout the club.
Hand sanitizer stations have been added throughout the club and there was constant cleaning going on. Delta also uses electrostatic sprayers at night in the club, the same way they spray all their planes before each flight.
You’ll also find changes to the food and beverage options, with the buffet now being modified for a “grab & go” style with pre-packaged items. Delta is still operating its complimentary bar program and plans to bring back its premium upgrade options soon.
One last point to note is Delta has temporarily closed its showers in the Sky Club, so plan accordingly.
