American Airlines announced new Elite Choice Rewards for Platinum Pro and Executive Platinum members starting in 2021. Previously Executive Platinum members received four systemwide upgrades, however with these changes there’s now more flexibility in how elite members want to be rewarded.

If you are currently an Executive Platinum member and prefer the systemwide upgrades, you can still select these as a benefit each year, and since Executive Platinum members get to choose both a Platinum Pro as well as two Executive Platinum rewards, you’d be able to earn up to 5 systemwide upgrades annually.

AAdvantage Platinum Pro

Members can choose one of the following options:

• One systemwide upgrade
• 20,000 AAdvantage bonus miles (25,000 for AAdvantage credit card holders)
• One-time 15% off award discount
• Carbon emissions offset
• $200 donation to one of 10 partner charities
• Six Admirals Club one-day passes
• $200 American Airlines travel voucher

AAdvantage Executive Platinum

Members can choose two of the following options:

• Two systemwide upgrade
• 25,000 AAdvantage bonus miles (30,000 for AAdvantage credit card holders)
• One-time 15% off award discount
• Carbon emissions offset
• $200 donation to one of 10 partner charities
• Gift of Gold status
• $200 American Airlines travel voucher
• Individual Admirals Club membership (requires two choices)
• 10,000 bonus Elite Qualifying Miles (can only be selected once)
• Choice of Bang & Olufsen products

Upon qualifying for the Platinum Pro and Executive Platinum tiers in 2021, eligible members will receive an email with an invitation to select their reward. Members can also find and choose their rewards under the Gifts and Rewards section of their AAdvantage account.

Starting in early 2021, Platinum Pro members will also receive oneworld Emerald status with the oneworld Alliance.
