Delta has announced they’ll be extending its seating capacity for passengers by continuing to block middle seats onboard both mainline and connection carriers through April 30, 2021. This applies to Main Cabin, Comfort + and First Class cabins.
Delta previously was blocking middle seats on all flights through March 30th, so this latest announcement extends for an additional month.
Per Delta,
Delta is continuing its industry-leading commitment to provide more space on board as the only U.S. airline to block middle seats and limit capacity on all flights departing through April 30, 2021, ensuring customers can confidently plan and book their spring travel.
The airline has consistently listened to its customers and prioritized their preferences by offering more space through seat blocking and reducing the overall number of people on board each flight since April 2020.
Delta is the only major US airline to continue blocking middle seats into 2021, so I suspect they’re banking on winning over marketshare in the 1st quarter next year as fliers shift their business over to Delta, however I feel that this latest extension will be Delta’s last.
When given a choice on airline to fly during these times, I’d highly recommend one that blocks middle seats. Having flown Delta several times since March, I can say that I felt safe onboard and appreciate all the measures they’re taking to ensure safety.
