Hotel Review: Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa

The Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa is located in Ponte Vedra Beach, which is about 45 minutes from Jacksonville International Airport. The property features 514 guestrooms and suites. It’s property is located next to TPC Sawgrass, and hotel guests have priority tee-times.

It’s a Marriott Bonvoy Category 4 property requiring 25,000 points for a standard free night redemption. Off peak redemptions are 20,000 points and peak nights are 30 points per night. The hotel does have a $25 nightly resort which is not waived for elites.

As a Marriott Platinum Bonvoy member I attempted to use my Suite Night Awards, however it was denied, as the hotel only has 21 suites. Instead, I was upgraded upon check-in to a Sawgrass Signature king guest room, which appears to be slightly nicer than the regular rooms.

Located a couple miles from the resort is the Cabana Beach Club, which guests have access to. There’s a shuttle even hour to the beach club which has it’s own pool, outdoor dining area, and access to the beach.

Bottom Line

The Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa is a great resort property located about 45 minutes from Jacksonville. You’ll enjoy the resort pools, TPC golf course, and access to the Cabana Beach Club. There are many restaurants within walking distance at Sawgrass Village.

If deciding on a car vs. Uber, I’d say you could do either. An Uber to/from the airport is roughly $35, and you’ll easily be able to get one from the airport. However, due to the pandemic, Ubers back to the airport from Ponte Vedra Beach are a bit more challenging, so I’d recommend allowing extra time.

As a Marriott Category 4, I think there’s great value here especially when booking an off-peak award for 20,000 points per night, or consider staying for 5 nights as you’d receive the 5th night free.

  1. Interesting, we were thinking of staying there last fall on a trip–looks to me like the “nicer King room” you were upgraded looks a lot like a basic Hyatt Place room.

  2. I think this is the only luxury hotel I know that is charging a moderate price. I really want to spend my nights at this hotel.

  3. The extensive database includes a wide range of listings for residential and commercial properties. The detailed information and high-quality photographs provided for each listing are truly helpful.
