It’s no surprise that many airlines were having lengthy delays and cancellations this Christmas holiday due to staffing challenges caused by the omicron variant.

As a result of this, my flight was cancelled and I was rebooked 4 hours later. To my surprise, I received the below email from Delta Air Lines offering 15,000 SkyMiles as compensation.

Here’s what the email says:

We apologize for the disruption to your holiday weekend travel plans, driven by winter weather and the omicron variant. Providing reliable, best-in-class customer service is very important to us. We will deposit 15,000 SkyMiles into your account. Please allow up to five business days for the mileage to be posted. Thanks for your business and, again, we are sorry for the delay in your travels.

It’s nice to see Delta offering compensation for those passengers who had their flights cancelled. We’ve yet to see any official compensation being offered by United or JetBlue.

Were your holiday plans impacted due to a flight cancellation? Feel free to share details in the comments below.
