Hyatt announced plans to open a new Thompson Vienna in 2024, which will mark the company’s third full service property in Vienna. The 148-room hotel will be located on Mariahilferstrasse which is on the outskirts of town. Hyatt is aggressively trying to grow the Thompson brand in Europe with the first Thompson Madrid property set to open later this year.
Per Hyatt,
Hyatt announced that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with an affiliate of SIGNA and CENTRAL Group for Thompson Vienna, a stunning new sophisticated lifestyle hotel to be located in the Austrian capital. The milestone development demonstrates Hyatt’s drive to expand its brands throughout Europe, along with a strong commitment to growing the Thompson Hotels portfolio.
Expected to open in late 2024, the 148-room hotel will be located on Mariahilferstrasse (Mariahilfer Street) in the popular retail area of Vienna, as part of an exciting development bringing a new KaDeWe high-end department store to the city. Thompson Vienna and KaDeWe together will create an immersive, cultural destination for tourists and locals alike, offering an all-encompassing experience that brings together global luxury brands, exciting dining and entertainment options. Â
The new Thompson Vienna will complement Hyatt’s two other properties in the city: Park Hyatt Vienna and Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere. No information on where the new Thompson will fall into the World of Hyatt award chart yet.
A few years back, we checked out the Hotel Review: Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere so very interested in going back to Vienna once the Thompson opens.
