Hotel Review: Hotel Kansas City, Unbound Collection

The Hotel Kansas City, Unbound Collection has 144 guestrooms and 15 suites and is located in downtown in the Power and Light District. This used to be the The Kansas City Club, a premier social club that opened its doors in 1922, prior to opening as a hotel a couple years ago.

This property is a World of Hyatt Category 4 property, meaning standard awards here run 15,000 points per night. Additionally, this means that you’re able to redeem your Category 1-4 free night certificates from the credit card or as a Milestone Awards.

Bottom Line

If you’re looking to stay downtown Kansas City, the Hotel Kansas City is a great option especially as a Hyatt Globalist member. With a fair amount of suites, I’d say upgrade chances here should be pretty good.

The hotel just started offering breakfast again, and it’s a smaller buffet in the lobby area. I’m not sure if there are plans to have a more expansive breakfast offering down the road in the restaurant, but this is something that I’d like to see improved.

Overall, this is a great addition to Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, and a property you’ll want to consider if you’re looking to stay downtown Kansas City.
