Platinum Delta SkyMiles Credit Card Review
5,000 Medallion Qualifying Miles & 35,000 Bonus Miles
You’ll earn 5,000 MQMs and 35,000 bonus miles after you spend $1,000 in purchases on your new Card in your first 3 months. This is a great signup bonus in my opinion because it not only gives you a lot of miles towards your next reward flight, but it gives you 5,000 miles that count towards status. Earning Delta MQMs through credit cards is the easiest way to earn Delta MQMs in my opinion. If you get enough, like I did through credit cards, you can earn Delta Elite status the easy way through almost all credit card MQM bonuses.
Companion Travel
The companion certificate entitles the owner to save a bunch of money each year by booking one flight and getting the second one for free. You’ll get a domestic Economy Class Companion certificate each year upon renewal. This is one of the best benefits of the Platinum Delta SkyMiles card in my opinion other than the ability to earn Medallion Qualifying Miles with miles boost.
For some of the common questions and answers about the Companion Certificate, check out our detailed post here explaining some of the more common questions and answers.
2x Miles For Every Dollar Spent At Delta
For every dollar spent on Delta purchases, you’ll earn 2x miles per dollar and 1x miles per dollar on all other purchases. This benefits doesn’t excite me because I can always earn 3x miles per dollar with the
. So if you are looking to maximize miles / points earned per dollar spent on airfare, the
is better for those purposes.
Miles Boost & Gifting MQMs
The Miles Boost benefit is by far my favorite benefit of the Platinum Delta SkyMiles card. The easiest thing you can do to get Delta elite status quicker is to add MQMs to your account earned from the Platinum Delta SkyMiles card. With this card, you’ll earn an additional 10,000 MQMs with the first $25,000 you spend on the card in a calendar year. Then you’ll earn an additional 10,000 bonus MQMs with the second $25,000 you spend on the card in a calendar year.
Free Checked Bag
The Platinum Delta SkyMiles card offers a free first checked bag.
Priority Boarding
You’ll be able to board with the priority boarding which gets you on the plane faster and gives you better access to the store your bag in the overhead bins.
Discounted Delta Sky Club® Access
The Platinum Delta SkyMiles card offers discounted Delta Sky Club® Access for you when you are traveling with Delta.
Bottom Line
This is a good card offer. The card has lots of benefits for the price of the annual fee. Overall, I think that the bonus miles and MQMs are great! The 35,000 bonus miles will get you on your way to your next free flight and the MQMs will get you closer to status.
