Our 2011 travels allowed us to visit some exciting places. Professional and personal travel took us to international locations and places a little closer to home. We developed a personal travel schedule that we called our “Year of the B”. For this plan, we identified locations starting with a B and then went for it.
Delta In Flight Certificate Giveaway
Leave a comment on this post with your best guess why we chose to title our personal travel theme the “Year of the B”. I’ll select 3 comments at random the end of the day on 11/14 and send each winner 5 Delta in-flight certificates each (good until 12/31/12). Hint: I’ve included a few hints in my last few posts this week.
With plenty to celebrate and a plethora of points and miles, we set off for one of our best travel years ever. Below are most of the trip reports I have on the plan to develop. These reports are either in development or are already posted. Feel free to drop me a note and let me know which one’s you’d like to see first.

You two are having a baby?!?!
I was going to go with Baby too…
But how about “B” for either Boyfriend or Bride (getting married! YAY!)
Beaches? The year of beaches?!
Third in a row. Guess that a baby is coming. If so, congratulations!
Baby sounds about right!
year of the bonus? beaches?
B is for . . . . bank robbery, with which to finance your travels . . . ?
My guess is you are having a baby! Congrats ๐
OR, instead of just “baby”, it intended to be a positive “jinx” in trying for one. Now that it seems to have been successful, I’m waiting for the announcement of name choice in the style of celebrities naming the baby after the place of conception. Lure? Savannah? Parker?
I also guess baby. And not just because we may or may not have talked about it this weekend ๐
Well congrats if it is a baby!
Places that start w a b?
A baby? Maybe a boy?!?
Best places to visit for redeeming reward Business class seats that starts with a b? BTW, congratulations for new baby!!
Bambino!
Year of the beaches and the baby? Combination!
It’ gotta be because you are having a baby! ๐
Appreciate all of the responses, so far very interesting.
I didn’t have to pull a bank robbery because I just depleted a ton of points and miles.
I’m going with you were trying for a baby and hopefully were successful! Congrats!
A NEW BABY!!
baby!
A new baby, am I too late? haha
“The year of the B”onus points? You will be traveling non stop thanks to all the bonus points earned so far.
Until the new baby comes, of course ๐
Hard to post and not sound like I am following the flow. My guess is Baby or Beaches, or Baby on the Beach or maybe you had such a good trip that Baby plans were started on the Beach :-), Either way, congrats or just thanks for offering this nice contest
I am going to join the masses and guess the B is for baby.
I’m thinking it’s the massive amount of business class awards your redeeming.
baby!
Year of the boy!
Year of B — Bouns (ie, baby, beaches ..)
The ultimate year of Boarding?
baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Year of the BABY!
Year of the baby or becahes
My guess is that B stands for bosom! Year of the bosom!
jk… ๐
Year of the bonus?
Year of Baby (and possibly baby boy) – CONGRATS! =D
“our family is expanding soon”
There certainly were many bonuses and business class seats in 2011, not the reason behind the title though. But the rules didn’t say it had to be correct…
Thanks for all the well wishes.
I’ll run a random number generator on Monday at 7 pm and will announce three winners. So far only 35 entries means there is a good percentage to win.
Beaches or Baby, would that be double guessing? haha
Year of the bonus points!
YMy first guess would be Year of the Baby Making. That would be my guess! It’s the year where you want to just go to so many places before you take the leap of the new responsibilty that comes with having a baby and having to really adjust your vacations and travels to be more fit for a baby to join you.
Second guess Year of starting a blog ๐
I appear to be following the trend, but I’m guessing baby!
My guess:
You found out that you were having a Bouncing Baby Boy while you were in Bora Bora, potentially while you were Baking Brownies.
It has to be the Year of the Baby! Love your blogspot! The tips and stories are great. I find lots of travel hints and resources on this site!
Year of the:
1)Beautiful Beaches (Bora Bora, Bahamas, Bahia Beach)
2)Big Bonuses (BA, Amex, Chase, etc)
Year of the beaches.
Add Bhutan to your list… one of the places I would love to visit someday! (And temporarily on hold due to our own Baby Boys, congrats!)
@Ty We also considered Bali, Barbados, Belize, and were close to the BVIs. Did We miss any great places to consider that start with a B?
Based upon your comment stating your wife is expecting, I’m gonna have to say B= baby.
Having a baby or planning on having/making a baby this year… or you were stung by a bee..
year of the baby maybe???
