On Saturday I received an email from SPG alerting me I had eclipsed the 50 night mark this calendar year and have thus earned SPG Platinum status through 2013. Consequently, this marks my 5th year in a row as a Platinum member so therefore received my ‘golden guarantee’ of lifetime SPG gold. Today, I received a follow up email indicating I could select a ‘Platinum Present’ for reaching Platinum status this year. I was offered two bonus award options to select from: 25 USD Award Certificate or a 6 month subscription to Hulu Plus.
Hulu Plus is tempting given my current addiction to Modern Family though I think I will end up selecting the 25 USD Award Certificate. Has anyone else received this offer? Does everyone receive the same choices or are there variations of the offer?

Unfortunately I’m a lowly gold, but I got the following offer last month (I chose the $25 award cert): Choose a $25 SPG® Award Certificate or a free one-year subscription to your favorite Condé Nast magazine, compliments of SPG.
When I re-achieved gold, I was offered the same $25 certificate or the magazine subscription. I’m about 7 nights away from Platinum, so we’ll see if I get the same offer.
I take the $25 certificate every year. Last one I used at the Westin for a proper breakfast.
I got both offers, identical. Opted for the certificates (considered 6 months of Hulu but we don’t have much left to watch not already available other ways). Took a while to get the first one for reaching gold. Two months after I requested it I had to contact SPG and they insisted it had already been sent, but sent the comment off to someone else with the promise to me in 2-3 weeks. About 2 weeks later my certificate showed up. Not sure if they just sent it after I asked again or if it really takes 10 weeks to get mail to San Diego.
I recieved the same $25 cert or 1 yr magazine subscription offer when I hit gold.
Currently wondering if I should spend $500 to reach plat, by using points from stay I could achieve it for only $500 and net 0 points.
I don’t really think it would be worth it just for the status though, what do you think?
last year I requested the certificate. I never received it 🙁 Followed up with SPGLurker who informed me it had been sent in the mail, despite never arriving at my home.
WHAATTT.. you got Hulu plus as an option… I was offered 1 year Mag subscription 🙁 … I usually take the $25 cert except for that one year when they offered 25% off Starpoints redemption – which was an AWESOME option..!
