The Hyatt Andaz 5th Avenue has 182 rooms of which 42 of them are suites. During my quest to maximize Hyatt promotions through the 65,000 imagination bonus or 44,000 possibilities bonus promotions, I was upgraded to both the Splash Suite and the Andaz Suite in addition to a number of stays in a regular king room. I have to admit, I didn’t spend much time in these suites, but if I was on an extended trip to New York, the Hyatt Andaz and their suites would be a great place to setup camp.
Andaz Suite At The Hyatt Andaz 5th
The Andaz suite is a 519 square feet space that looks out over the courtyard and midtown. The suite has a separate living room and bedroom complete with a pull out sleeper sofa. On the way to our room we passed some more art by the elevator bank.
The entrance has a small foyer with storage and a minibar which offers complimentary snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. The wood floor really makes for a nice entrance.
The living room was just about a perfect size for a 2 night stay. Very minimalist feel to the furnishings. There was a small desk to the left and a flat screen television on the wall. The room had floor to ceiling windows which let a lot of natural light in during the day time.
The couch pulled out into a sleeper bed. Great for those who have an extra guest or small family.
Andaz Suite Bedroom And Bath
Moving past the living room, you’ll pass through a small hallway and into the bedroom.
There is a nice area for storage and another flat screen television for the bedroom. Plenty of room to spread out your stuff for a few nights and get comfortable.
The bed was very comfortable and had a great Geneva Sound System with iPod dock next to the bed.
The bathroom of this room was very similar to the Splash Suite. The bathroom was decked out in marble travertine and had double sinks.
The walk in rain shower was spacious and had a small seat to sit back and kick up your feet into the porcelain bowl.
Diamond Breakfast And Other
By this stay, I needed to move on from the famous Lemon Poppy Seed pancakes. There is only so much cake from a pan or home made jelly donuts you can eat for breakfast before a suit starts to not fit. So I went with scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, a croissant, espresso, sliced grapefruit and juice instead 🙂
The eggs were great and came with two mall tomatoes and a side of hash browns. The hash browns were the hardest thing to leave on the plate, they were tasty with a light crunch to them.
In the evening I went to the bar downstairs to grab the Andaz version of the Old Fashioned and a cheese plate.
Bottom Line
Overall the Andaz property is an oasis within a busy city. It’s location in midtown next to the Public Library makes it a great location for business and personal travel. If you are a Hyatt Diamond member you can expect to be considered for an upgrade and will receive complimentary breakfast in the hotel restaurant or brought to your room in the morning.
How much bigger is the Spalsh Suite and should I try for that (I’m using a suite upgrade) and have been promised the andaz suite.
travelling with wife and twins.
Hi Michael – The Splash Suite is 787 sq ft. You can see the full list of rooms in the link below.

Depending on time, they may not be busy and may offer a nice size suite. Good luck on the upgrade and enjoy your trip.
One bit of advice from a fellow photographer…manually change the exposure and white balance of your camera for the interior room shots. They become dark if you dont. Try setting ISO to at least 400.
Hi LR – Thanks, I’ll try that in 2013. I’m in the market for a new camera. The one I have isn’t cutting it. S95 perhaps?
