Back in September, a fellow travel blogger posted a link to an Aeroplan promotion where you could earn 5,000 miles just for staying at Starwood hotels. I missed this post, but caught the follow up post on November 15th illustrating the points were now posting. I now have my first 5,000 Aeroplan miles in my account

Why Did The 5,000 Aeroplan Miles Post?

The promotion offered 3,000 Aeroplan miles for staying just 3 nights in a Starwood hotel between September 10 and December 9, 2012. Then, if you stay another two nights you’d earn an additional 2,000 miles for a total of 5,000 miles.

The points were posted to my SPG account and automatically transferred out on December 18, 2012.

The points were transferred into my Aeroplan account retroactively. Now I have 5,000 Aeroplan miles!

Bottom Line

A big thank you to Ben at One Mile At A Time for the 5,000 miles!

I registered for this promotion just before December 9, 2012. Even though I didn’t have any stays during the remaining promotion period, my prior stays during the promotion period were credited retroactively.

This isn’t the first time I’ve benefited from another travel blogger sharing information and I’m sure it won’t be the last. So I thought I’d post a quick note to say thank you to all the hard work travel bloggers, FlyerTalkers, and MilePointers do to share information and help people earn more miles, burn more miles and make the travel experience better.

What’s the best deal you benefited from lately?
