Delta Platinum Status Packet Arrived And I Have Two Observations

My Delta Platinum Elite Status packet has arrived and I have two key takeaways. But before I share them, I’ll quickly recap what the packet is and what is included.

Every year Delta sends out packets to Elite members in the SkyMiles program to provide updated status credential cards and other goodies.

The other goodies range from bag tags to JWD (Job Well Done) certificates to my favorite, the drink certificate.

It’s apparent after one look at the Platinum Elite packet that Delta thinks (1) I’m a light weight and (2) I gave out way to many JWD certificates over the years.

My packet came with only four JWD certificates and only four drink certificates. Not nearly enough JWD certificates for an entire 12 month period for a weekly flyer. And that is only enough drink certificates for like one transcontinental flight in coach!

I can live with just four drink certificates because of my upgrade percentage. Like today, I was upgraded to a non-economy comfort preferred window seat. Kidding, it isn’t much of an upgrade at all, but not bad for a Monday AM flight booked last minute on a Diamond Elite heavy route. I’d call this upgrade the second best upgrade a Southwest flyer could hope for:)

Seriously though, I’d suggest Delta increase the JWD certificates. For one, I certainly know employees appreciate the program and I appreciate the elevated customer service that Delta provides.

What is the best Delta customer service action that you felt deserved a JWD certificate?

  1. That is a good point. I wonder if Delta would send you more JWD certs if you called or messaged them with the request. I expect that they may.

But that does not solve the problem that most other elites will just use the 4 JWD certs early in the year and be done with them.

  2. The JWD certs. are only 500 pts. now too, compared to the previous ones which were worth 1500 pts. for employees. I got my kit the other day too, but I was a little annoyed when I noticed that they stopping printing barcodes with our SM#s on the luggage tags, which makes them useless.

  3. I have received my Diamond package today and have a few comments:
    a) the JWD certificates are for 1,000 points
    b) only 4 JWD and 4 drink like yours too
    c) the metal luggage tags seem to have thicker metal than the last few years
    d) My Diamond card shows me having status until 02/15 which I assume is because I closed with 269k miles

  4. I wanted to compliment Skymiles customer Service representative Kerri Oreilly – she was absolutely wonderful- so competent with a great sense of humor and caring. she helped me so much! it was a pleasure to speak with her and i want you to know it
    warm regards,
