There are some great places in Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International airport for a nice meal or a refreshing drink. For example, I’ve had a great quiet lunch at Cafe Intermezzo located in the airport’s terminal B. I’ve also had a few great dinners like sushi & soup and duck breast in the Terminal E restaurant One Flew South. But one great option has gone away and another one is about to fill it’s place.
The Terminal A Chili’s restaurant is now gone. In it’s place, P.F. Chang’s will be up and running in August of 2013. So get ready to replace your margarita and salsa with sake and wantons.
On a side note, Delta’s least known SkyClub in Terminal A still serves a good (enough) breakfast option. This SkyClub entrance is on the other side of the escalator from the entrance to the new P.F. Chang’s restaurant. Before a recent domestic 767 flight, I stopped in for a hot bagel, coffee and view of my 767 prior to departure.
This SkyClub is definitely a great place to enjoy your morning coffee.

The Varsity, hands down. What’ll ya have???
I really enjoyed that Chili’s as you could watch the whole airport go by if you asked for a seat by the window.
So, how about the worst restaurant in that airport.
I nominate the Checkpoint Grill in Terminal T.
I can’t believe how bad the hamburger I had there today was. A terrible frozen patty that might have been defrosted and baked with a slice of cold cheese placed on it. Unfriendly, slow service too.
What a shame that I waited until I got close to my gate to eat because there are many good choices in the main terminal food court. But I thought I needed to get to my gate. (And the flight turned out to be delayed and I could have taken my time.)
Avoid the Checkpoint Grill.
