Ok, I’ll admit it, I’m a sucker for breakfast on the road. I first fell for Delta’s First Class Omelette and it was good. I find it so hard to resist eating a tasty breakfast when it is right in front of you. In the past I’ve been known to partake in Delta’s 777 breakfast in International Business Class on a domestic route or two thanks to Platinum status. Or, I’ve grabbed a bagel in Atlanta’s T Concourse SkyClub on the way down to St Thomas and even a waffle on the road at the nearest Waffle House.
However, I’ve been known to skip the Sky Club breakfast. The bagels just aren’t amazing enough to ruin the day. You know what I mean. It takes a lot of running on the treadmill back at the hotel to work off that bagel. Granted, Delta did recently announce they are UPing their International Business Elite meals onboard flights between London and New York but I was a little surprised by what I found in the latest trip to the Sky Club.
I walked by what I thought would be the normal breakfast spread and something jumped out at me from the corner of my eye. I turned back to take a closer look.
Yes, those are mini belgian waffles and mini cinnamon rolls.
I couldn’t resist getting a taste of each of them. Someone had to try them out and let you know if they are worth the extra miles on the treadmill. I did however wash it down with a diet coke, not that it helps in any way.
The waffle was a bit crunchy with sprinkles of sugar. Definitely a change over the bagels. But the real treat was the small cinnamon roll. It was moist, and is just gewy enough to tempt for another one. If I had to pick one, I’d likely go back with the cinnamon roll, but both were quite tasty for a (rare) morning snack.
Bottom Line
Delta ruined my day with an irresistible breakfast, now I’ll have to go run for an extra hour 😉
But it was worth it, and they totally made up for it in the air with clear skies as far as the eye could see and an on-time arrival. So I guess I could call this a win win.
