The end of the year is almost here and that means a mad dash to make sure the last Medallion Qualifying Miles are earned to maintain current status or achieve the next level of status for next year. If you are looking for a few extra MQMs, you are in luck. There are a few ways to earn MQMs at the last minute.

Option 1: Earn Delta MQMs at Hilton

  • Earn up to 250 Medallion Qualifying Miles per stay

Option 2: Delta Credit Cards – Reserve, Platinum, etc

When I add it up, I realized it is actually pretty easy to earn elite status with Delta if you use the miles boost from one of their credit cards. Here’s a breakdown of the MQMs I’ve earned this year:

Outright Buy Delta MQMs

We reported a few weeks ago about how Delta is now selling MQMs (at rip-off prices) directly to Medallion members. Only one problem, prices are high, and they get higher the higher level of status you have.

Bottom Line

I enjoy my Delta Platinum status that gets me unlimited space available upgrades to First Class, unlimited complimentary economy comfort, unlimited award redeposit fees, complimentary checked baggage and much more. So if I was short on MQMs this year (which I’m not because I’ve earned 70k MQMs the easy way) I’d consider some of the options above.

  1. Rather than try to earn a few extra MQMs by the end of the year, I would like to spend some more money on my Delta Amex Platinum card to earn a LOT of miles. I am a little short — I need to spend an additional $5,000 or so to quality for my bonus 10,000 miles and MQMs. Do you have any suggestions? For instance, can I buy an Amazon gift certificate, get credit for the spending this year, and then do the actual buying next year? Does that sort of thing work?

  2. VR cards are the perfect answer to that…….that’s even worth a road trip to find a Charlie Victor Sierra……..
