American Express made some changes to the Platinum cards earlier this year. Amex increased the earning on the Platinum cards to 5x Membership Rewards points on airfare. Let’s take a look at the difference between the personal, The Platinum Card® from American Express and the business version, The Business Platinum® Card from American Express OPEN with regards to this 5x MR points benefit.
5x Points On Airfare With Amex Platinum Card/s
With the personal platinum card, The Platinum Card® from American Express, you will earn your 5x MR points when you book flights directly with airlines or via Amex Travel. You also earn 5x MR points on eligible hotels booked only on amextravel.com.
In the case of the Business version, The Business Platinum® Card from American Express OPEN the benefit is a little different in that you only earn the 5x MR points on flights and prepaid hotels when you book via amextravel.com.
The Platinum cards from American Express offer a lot of other benefits as well that can easily offset their higher annual fees.
