On a recent Delta flight from New York (JFK) to St. Kitts, as a Delta Platinum Medallion, I was upgraded to First Class. Delta offers seasonal Saturday only service from JFK to St. Kitts (SKB) onboard their 737-800 aircraft, as well as several times a week from Atlanta.
Delta 737-800 at New York’s John F. Kennedy, shortly after the snow storm.
This specific Boeing 737-800 hasn’t been retrofitted meaning the AVOD screens were on the smaller side.
Upon boarding, First Class passengers were offered bottled water and billboard headphones.
Pre-departure beverages included orange juice, champagne, or mimosas. I opted for the later of those.
Breakfast choices included either the Chicken Chorizo Scramble (red skin potatoes, scrambled eggs, chicken chorizo, montamore cheese, peppers, green onions, chives)
Or the Hot Oatmeal (steel-cut oats, quinoa, peaches, pineapple, apples, almonds, coconut). Served with greek yogurt.
What makes this flight unique, is that due to an issue with the hydraulics, we would be diverting to Atlanta, where we’d have to swap out aircrafts before continuing on.. You can read more about the Delta Diversion New York (JFK)-St. Kitts.
Overall, I was pleased with the flight despite the diversion as the crew was very attentive and the breakfast choices were tasty. It’s nice that Delta offers complimentary Medallion upgrades to First Class on their flights to the Caribbean, and generally these aren’t that hard of an upgrade.
