I wrote about how much I liked Google Express in this post. Specifically I identified a unique opportunity to purchase from Costco (without a membership) and still have it delivered for free via Google Express. Well, that must have been too good to be true because last week, Google Express sent me the following update to their Costco policy. Basically now you need a membership. Bummer!
Google Express Costco Update
Because you’ve recently ordered from Costco with Google Express, you’re getting this note about an upcoming service change.
Starting February 5, you’ll have to be a Costco member to shop Costco on Express. Focusing on its membership program will allow Costco to increase selection on Google Express and maintain low prices.
If you want to shop via their app, you can also try promo code:
APP20OFF
The max savings is $20 and it expires on 2/12 or while supplies last.
Bottom Line
I still really like shopping with Google Express and find that there are good deals. It’s so convenient to get things delivered to my front door especially heavy stuff! It’s saves me time and effort! If you haven’t tried Google Express yet, you can get a referral credit of $10 off your $10 order here.
I guess I’ll need to get a Costco membership next time a deal comes around!
Surprised you weren’t stopped sooner. Even in beta testing 2 years ago, I had to enter my Costco membership number. Of course, this is when deliveries were only $5 and it was the same price in-store including sales.
I have kind of an off topic question. Does anyone know why Costco’s product selection is limited on Google Express. Example, Kirkland vitamins , Aller Flo spray, etc.
