When it comes to choosing a first class seat on Delta Air Lines, there can be several factors that can come into play on what you choose including bulkhead or not, traveling with a companion, however also meal selection.

Delta takes meal selection from the front to back on even-numbered flights, and from back to front on odd-numbered flights. This means if you want your first choice in meal on a flight, you may want to select a seat accordingly.

For instance if you’re flying on Delta flight #1917, as this is an odd-numbered flight, flight attendants will manifest or take meal orders starting from the back of the first class cabin. If you’re on this flight, you may want to consider choosing a seat toward the back of the cabin if you want your first choice in meals.

When it comes to choosing a First Class seat on Delta, taking into consideration where the meal selection begins can be an important factor.

If you’re confirmed in First Class, you can also request a special meal online 24 hours in advance including vegetarian meals. If you have a special meal, then choosing a seat based on meal isn’t a factor.

Delta also started rolling out a pre-select meal option for Delta One business class flights, where you can confirm your selection in advance. This should be rolling out to more flights in the future including domestic flights.
