Delta’s New Gate Upgrade Display Change

In all of Delta’s hubs as well as several other cities, they offer Gate Information Display Screens (GIDS) which display a lot of useful information for passengers including connecting flights, upgrade and standby lists, and general flight info.

Delta has always used to display the entire upgrade list on these screens, however as of recent (likely due to extremely long lists) they now only show a couple of names instead on the entirety. For those on standby, the entire standby list continues to appear, as this change only impacts the upgrade list.

On a recent flight form New York (JFK) to Los Angeles, the upgrade list was well over 25 passengers on the app, however on the gate information display screen that wasn’t reflected, as it only showed 2 passengers.

Now there were 0 seats for upgrades anyways, however it’s an interesting move for Delta not to display the full upgrade list.

a screen with text on it

It’s an interesting move for Delta not to show the entire upgrade list on the gate information display screen. It could be due to the fact that these lists can often be quite long, so this way it only shows those at the top of the list. To view the entire list, you can still see on the Fly Delta mobile app, or by viewing your reservation online.

Has anyone noticed this change on a recent Delta flight, where the gate information display screen doesn’t reflect the full upgrade list? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.

  1. I am glad they are changing it. Nothing makes you feel worse than being number 25 when there are only 12 seats in 1st anyway.
