We’ve previously shared our love of Briggs & Riley bags in the past here at Points, Miles & Martinis. Now we are excited to bring you a chance to win a bag from the new Briggs & Riley TORQ™ hard cover collection.
Briggs & Riley announced their latest innovative product in May, Briggs & Riley’s perfected version of the polycarbonate hard-sided bag that is popular with both frequent and non-frequent travelers.

- TORQ™ cases are made of Makrolon™, a high-performance material that can withstand the roughest handling, and is known for its resilience and pop-back properties
- The carry-on boasts a lockable hardside front compartment which is gusseted and zipperless, sitting flush with the bag when closed

- Have you ever had a hard-sided travel bag?
- What TORQ™ feature do you think is most helpful to the frequent traveler and why?
I’ve never owned a hard sided bag.
TORQ™ bags have a unique 80/20 top-lid opening, opening like traditional luggage, rather than the 50/50 clamshell opening and packing limits of other hard sided options on the market
I have an old hard shell Samsonite from 1991 that my brother constantly makes fun of. Time for an upgrade! My favorite feature on the torq is the material that pops back
Have you ever had a hard-sided travel bag? No, I have not.
What TORQ™ feature do you think is most helpful to the frequent traveler and why? I think the hard case itself is the most useful feature to a well-seasoned traveler because durability is a huge issue for me with all of my frequent traveling.
Never had a hardsided back.
Lifetime guarantee is the feature for me, gotta love a buy it for life item
Yes, I have both a Rimowa Salsa and a Salsa Deluxe Hybrid, the latter has the soft outer pockets. What I like about the Torq is the 80/20 split – packing the Rimowas (which are a 50/50 clamshell design) can be tricky: you need space to spread out both halves, or alternatively if you only have space to pack the one side (and leave the other up at 90 degrees), then you have to constantly check to see whether everything fits. That’s not really an issue with the 80/20 split.
1. Yes, I’ve used a generic one.
2. The small front pocket for easy access.
I have had hard sided bags and I really like the front compartment
1. Never have had one
2. unconditional lifetime warranty
I have Rimowa. Like luggage with four wheels.
1. Sadly, I have not owned a hard-sided bag.
2. The best warranty in the business.
Thanks for the opportunity!
Nope; I think the Control Panel is most helpful because it safeguards souvenirs and other valuables against theft: especially important for certain airports/countries.
I do not own a hard sided bag…I love the 80/20 opening on this one though.
I have not had a hard-sided case before, and the most important feature is to have a place for my laptop that can go through the xray without the need to take out my laptop.
1. I started using hard-sided travel bags on my very first flight — and have used them ever since.
2. The TORQ™ feature that is most helpful to the frequent traveler is the unconditional lifetime warranty — because baggage handlers often toss around luggage in a rough manner — and damage it.
As a Midway Airlines flight attendant, in 1981, I carried a Samsonite hardside that actually fit under the seat! Of course, integral wheels weren’t an option and I still have the luggage card I used to haul that heavy bag through airports. We had overhead racks, not bins, back then and space was a premium!
I’ve been watching the evolution of Briggs and Riley for a few years. I’m most intrigued by the external handle storage and the outside and accessible compartment of this new introduction!
1. Yes
2. The iPad compartment, I travel with one for work.
Have you ever had a hard-sided travel bag? Nope, but very interested in using one.
What TORQ™ feature do you think is most helpful to the frequent traveler and why? Easy access to stored items like passport or tablet.
1) Yes, an old Samsonite hardside bag
2) I like the iPad front pocket as well
I have an old Samsonite hard shell case.
The 80/20 top lid opening is a great feature.
Have you ever had a hard-sided travel bag?
No because I like to have quick access pockets that they usually don’t have.
What TORQ™ feature do you think is most helpful to the frequent traveler and why?
The fact that there is a quick access pocket!!
1) Don’t have a hard shell case.
2) Quick access pocket will be great for gadgets!
1. Had a hard shell case long time ago.
2. 80/20 will be great for a hard shell.
1) No
2) The lifetime warranty is most helpful because of the frequency with which even the best luggage fails.
-Have you ever had a hard-sided travel bag?
True story: my first travel bag was a hard-sided Samsonite bag bought at an estate sale. It served me most of my life…until I got mocked for traveling with a bag straight from the 70’s.
-What TORQ™ feature do you think is most helpful to the frequent traveler and why?
The quick access pocket. It’s going to take a lot of burden from a handheld/shoulder bag and more in the roller.
I have never owned a hard side bag, but would like to try it out. I like the overall design and the wide wheel base. I have had problems with some of my bags falling over during travel, and hopefully the TORQ bag would prevent this.
1. No, I’ve never had a hard-sided bag.
2. The smooth wheel technology sounds excellent.
Never had a hard side bag. Lots of great features – maybe the best is its durability.
Never had a hard side bag, but definitely the durability and quick access pocket would be great additions.
Never had a carry on. The front panel is most necessary to allow access to books or electronics during travel.
I have always used squishy bags believing they hold more therefore I have never had a hard sided bag. The accessible pocket looks intriguing on this one though. Love to try it!
I have never owned a piece of hard-sided luggage. The feature that seems to be of the most value for a frequent traveler is the lockable hardside front compartment on the carry-on; looks like it would make it easy to grab the iPad quickly when boarding.
1. Never had one before.
2. Lifetime warranty
I use a hard side bag, which gets replaced every 18 months or so. I think the life time warranty is an outstanding feature. When you live the bag…you want it to last!
I bought a cheapie hard sided carry on 6 years ago in Phuket it was awesome until the handle broke 10 hours later
It didn’t survive the flight being tossed around. Then it would lock after being manhandled a month later. I need a durable hard sides case
I love how this Torq is able to lock the front sides i have never heard of this and it provides extra security with that feature. I also like that its tilt resistant. My regular suit cases are prone to tilting all the time it drives me bonkers

I have never had a hard side bag, unfortunately!
For frequent travelers, the best part would be lifetime warranty. I have gone through many, many bags in my time.
I’ve never had a hard side bag, but have always wanted one.
Lifetime warranty!
I have never owned a hard side bag.
The best aspect: the hard side front for easy access to ipads, train tickets and etc. It also assists in not packing too much in the front pocket that the bag doesn’t fit in overhead bend (I am guilty of this sometimes and embarrassed to pull out my crap while others are waiting behind me to board).
I have never owned a hard side bag.
The lifetime warranty is particularly useful to a frequent traveler
Never owned one, but I do like the ergonomic design since it makes it less easy for frequent flyers to get hurt.
I’ve never owned a hard-sided carry on bag before.
The control panel that locks contents in the main and front compartment seems like a feature that would benefit the frequent traveler the most.
1. No/never.
2. The lifetime warranty, because a frequent flyer is obviously familiar with how easy bags can get damaged — and this warranty helps to defray the cost of repair
No
I love the expandability
I have not owned a hard-sided travel bag yet, but a Briggs & Riley and its unconditional lifetime warranty would be a great addition to the other Briggs & Riley I own.
I have been waiting for this bag! I love my other Briggs and Riley bags and am ready to move to a hard sided bag. First one!
Which feature do I love best? Hard to say, the design and features are all so true to the high standard of Briggs and Riley.
I really love the lockable front compartment. Peace of mind for valuables when in line and I may be distracted, or bag is overhead and I fall asleep.
Love the no tip over wheels
It expands ! And protects your iPad – yea !
1. Never had a hard-sided luggage/
2. The front pocket looks handy to go along with the Briggs & Riley warranty
1. Never had a hard sided bag.
2. Convenient front compartment looks very helpful.
Never had one but would love some luggage with the no tip over wheels and the front compartment.
Never had a hard-sided bag. I have to say that a truly unconditional lifetime warranty on all aspects of the bag is a killer feature.
Yes-had a hard-sided case, but it dented too easily. (a Samsonite).
Think the carry-on with the 4 wheels would be perfect and would LOVE to try it.
