We’ve previously shared our love of Briggs & Riley bags in the past here at Points, Miles & Martinis. Now we are excited to bring you a chance to win a bag from the new Briggs & Riley TORQ™ hard cover collection.
Briggs & Riley announced their latest innovative product in May, Briggs & Riley’s perfected version of the polycarbonate hard-sided bag that is popular with both frequent and non-frequent travelers.

- TORQ™ cases are made of Makrolon™, a high-performance material that can withstand the roughest handling, and is known for its resilience and pop-back properties
- The carry-on boasts a lockable hardside front compartment which is gusseted and zipperless, sitting flush with the bag when closed

Have you ever had a hard-sided travel bag? No.
What TORQ™ feature do you think is most helpful to the frequent traveler and why? The design (exceptionally wide, tilt-resistant wheel base and proprietary recessed spinner wheels), because nothing is more important to a frequent traveler than gliding through airports during tight connections and saving precious time.
1. Long long time ago when hard cases are the norm.
2. I like the way front pocket opens up. Seems easier to fish things out of this pocket than regular luggage.
I had a hard sided Samsonite about 30 years ago. I’d like the external handles to make more packing space.
Nope & I think the Control Panel is most helpful because it safeguards souvenirs and other valuables against theft: especially important for certain airports/countries.
1. Have a hard-sided for checked gear, not personal items.
2. Lockable hardside front compartment.
1. I had a half hard half soft samsonite. Loved it but the soft part fell apart.
2. I love the lockable front compartment
1. Nope
2. That front, easy access compartment.
1. Yes.
2. The lifetime warranty is the best part. Owning a Brigg’s Riley means having a luggage for life.
I have had a hard sided bag and love it.
I like the front pocket, my hard sided bag doesn’t have this feature.
i have never had a hard-sided travel bag, but now see the investment would be worth it.
i think that pop-out compartment for electronics to easily access is the best part here.
1. I had a hardside back in the 80’s, in a horrid avocado green color.
2. The lifetime warranty.
Never had a hard bag, but always open for new ideas.
lifetime warranty is my favorite feature.
I’ve had hard-sided large suitcases, but never a hard-sided carryon. I like the front-panel for keeping travel papers and an ipad/laptop handy.
Although I’ve never owned a hard sided case, I would enjoy having one for its lightweight qualities.
I’ve used cumbersome hard shells years ago but this one look awesome
I especially like the true lifetime warranty – speaks of quality throughout.
Never had a hard side. The control panel looks like a great feature. The bag looks great
I have never had a hard-sided travel bag, but I wish I did since mine seems to always be the one that gets damaged.
To me the lifetime warranty has to be the best feature. I’m the unlucky guy who always has a mishap with his luggage and the lifetime warranty would be an amazing security blanket for me.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I’ve never had a hardsided bag.
I like the lockable front compartment.
– Have you ever had a hard-sided travel bag?
Yes, but I always go to my soft-sided bag which feels more flexible.
– What TORQ™ feature do you think is most helpful to the frequent traveler and why?
Love the outer compartment, that will be extremely useful when going through security.
I have never had a hard sided suitcase before. I think the durability and warranty are the best features. I do also love the top compartment with the potential to eliminate needed to carry a separate bag for your carry on electronics. Thanks for hosting the contest!
I never had a hard suitcase.
I live the seacret middle layer, so the bag will last for a long time, and I won’t need to use their lifetime warranty.
Thanks!
I’ve use the same soft bag for over 20 years ( working for military, travel to s.e. asia) zipper tabs fell off years ago, about time for an upgrade?
Never had hard suitcase. Love the top-side compartment also.
We have and still use our Samsonite Hardside case when travelling long haul and when we are away for at least a couple weeks. Down side is it weighs 8-9 pounds empty!
The Control Panel feature gets my vote!
I’ve never had a hard bag but certainly the best feature is the warranty.
I have never had a hard-sided bag but I have been considering getting one for my work travel.
I think the most helpful feature for frequent travelers is how durable the bag is (especially since it is backed by a lifetime warranty!).
Never had a hard bag before. Personally, I think the warranty/high performance material are best features. Most of my bags wear down, especially when flying a lot and I just replace them. Nice to have a bag that can withstand the rigor of constant travel
I’ve never had one. The best feature is the lifetime warranty in my mind. Buy a bag once, never again!
(I’m used to buying $30-40 bags at amazon every year or so, this would certainly save money in the long haul.)
Never had a hardsided luggage. Like the flat packing surface feature.
I have never had a hard-sided carry-on bag before. The 80/20 top lid is the coolest feature IMO.
I’ve never had a hard-side bag, as I’ve always been a little scared of it cracking. But I’ve also always been temped to try one since I like the idea of a defined shape.
I really like the 80/20 zip on the new Briggs & Riley, which would make it much easier to pack without overflow issues.
Never had a hardsided luggage. Like the lockable front compartment.
I have a hard-sided bag that I love. I think the most important feature is the wheels–when you’re dragging it through a dozen airports and all across cities to get to your hotel, you’re going to be glad when it’s not tipping over every time you go around a corner.
1. Yes, but not a carryon.
2. The front compartment. Easy access to iPad and laptop is essential!
Yes i have owned a hard side and i believe that spinner wheels are the best feature.
No , I never had one before. The wheels are good feature so I don’t need to carry it .
Never had one before, but the expandability would be best.
1. I used to have a hybrid hardside carryon before it was destroyed in the fire.
2. The front compartment, just accessing a few things there is necessary
I’ve never had a hard sided travel bag, too afraid it would crack/break/shatter.
The best feature is the: “secret middle layer” that is flexible and forgiving. This feature seems to address my fear that hard sided bags tend to break/crack/shatter.
I haven’t had a hard side in many many years. But, it seems that I only get one or two uses out of my soft side, so I really do like the quality of this luggage. Maybe it’s time to “go home.”
I’ve never had a hard-sided bag. The feature that I look forward to most is the built in TSA lock. I doubt it’s popular, but having to carry an extra lock that I could lose has been a (perhaps irrational?) barrier to me using one so far.
I never had a hard shell before.
The front opening up seems pretty cool
1. Never had hard side.
2. Like the Outsider handle system. Anything that leaves more room on the inside for packing is a winner in my book.
1. No, I’ve never had a hard-sided bag.
2. The smooth wheel technology sounds like it would make moving through an airport very nice.
I have never used a hard sided bag, although I like the idea and added protection it must give. My favorite feature of all Briggs and Riley bags has to be the warranty they offer.
Haven’t had a polycarbonate rollaboard yet, but impressed with this offering . The Outsider handle idea is great for increasing volume.
I have never had a hard-sided bag (but want one!) and I think the material (Makrolon) is very useful to protect against the constant banging luggage receives for frequent travelers.
Have never had a hard bag….. loving the easy access from opening!
1. I have not had a hard-sided bag in years — since the demise of old-school (wheel-less) samsonite.
2. Those wheels wouldbe great for manuvering around a carry-on in crowded airports
Had one once, but no longer. But the 80/20 split seems to be a great improvement for hard cover cases.
