We’ve previously shared our love of Briggs & Riley bags in the past here at Points, Miles & Martinis. Now we are excited to bring you a chance to win a bag from the new Briggs & Riley TORQ™ hard cover collection.
Briggs & Riley announced their latest innovative product in May, Briggs & Riley’s perfected version of the polycarbonate hard-sided bag that is popular with both frequent and non-frequent travelers.

- The ergonomic top and side carry handles are soft to the touch and the interior is fully lined with soft high-quality nylon
- TORQ™ cases are made of Makrolon™, a high-performance material that can withstand the roughest handling, and is known for its resilience and pop-back properties
- The carry-on boasts a lockable hardside front compartment which is gusseted and zipperless, sitting flush with the bag when closed
- TORQ™ bags have a unique 80/20 top-lid opening, opening like traditional luggage, rather than the 50/50 clamshell opening and packing limits of other hard sided options on the market

Bottom Line

- Have you ever had a hard-sided travel bag?
- What TORQ™ feature do you think is most helpful to the frequent traveler and why?
I have a hard-sided Tumi which is great as a carry-on; can throw in fragile souvenirs without them breaking. The front flip-open feature is nice and one that the Tumi does not have.
I have the Tumi hard side. But it is hard to beat Briggs and Reilly’s warranty.
Mom and I shared a blue Samsonite hardside ase years ago, i think it weighed about 12 pounds! Was hard to close, sprung open, andhad to be repaired once by the airline after denting in one corner. It never pulled correctly, but at least it was one of the first with wheels!
For features, i like the access part on the side, it would save me tons of time digging, love the red color, it rocks!!!
No, I have never had a modern hardside (with Wheels).
The 80/20 design is a great design feature especially when coupled with the front compartment.
I’ve never owned hard-side luggage but was planning on looking around for something soon.
I think the best feature would be the “spinner” wheels – I can’t imagine luggage without it!
Yes I own one
The top lid opening is great for accessing things easily 😀
I’ve never had a hard shell. I like the idea that the front opens up.
Have envied other travelers in airport sporting a hard-side while I have an old duffle bag with wheels~pain in the ass bag.
The front cover that locks is a very unique feature that you can’t find on other luggage. !Too cool!!!!
Never had a hard shelled bag, the 4 wheels would make maneuvering bag easier
Never owned a Briggs & Riley luggage myself but would sure like to try one.
Currently have a soft sided luggage to allow easy stuffing when I’m traveling for more days. Hard sided luggage would be worth a try.
No, I have never had a hard sided bag.
I like the locking feature on the front cover.
I’ve been envying hard shell spinner luggages for a while. The love the front pocket for easy access. Other hard shelled luggages with front pockets do not look anywhere as nice as this Briggs & Riley bag!
I have never had a hard sided bag. I think the unconditional lifetime warranty is the greatest feature.
I have had a hard bag many years ago. I think the wheel system allowing it to roll upright easily or lean and pull behind is a great feature.
I have never had a hard-sided travel bag. Best feature is the warranty because airlines always mess up the bags.
I have never had a hard side luggage bag.
I think the easy access side pockets and unconditional guarantees are the best features.
Haven’t had a polycarbonate rollaboard yet, but impressed with this offering . The outside pocket looks like a really good idea and I could really get on board with this roll a board.
I have never used a hardcase. The locking control panel seems like the best feature
Nope, but looking forward to one.
Briggs & Riley Control Panel. Simply because it will be the only bag that will stay with me and carry my valuables around.
Never used a hardcase. Top lid opening for easy access.
I’ve never had a hardcase, frankly the clamshell design of most threw me off so I like the 20/80 lid on this one! But really I think the most valuable to the general traveler is the lifetime warrantee!
yes, and the middle layer seems cool!
I’ve never owned hard-sided luggage, and the reason is that I am afraid they’ll break or get battered more easily than soft bags. So the best feature about the TORQ bags is the unconditional lifetime warranty!
I’ve never had a hard case but would love one. I like that zipperless front pocket, very cool!
Yes I have. Even though the bag has some outstanding features that really set it apart, as a frequent traveler I know that the warranty is the most important feature.
I’ve never owned a hard sided piece of luggage.
I think the lifetime warranty is the best feature. I like a company that stands behind its products.
I’ve had a couple of sets of hard side bags and I really appreciate the extra protection they provide for my things. However, they’ve not had compartments like the Torq bags, so I would look forward to that feature.
Never had a hard-sider.
The front compartment is the best.
I have never had one. The easily accessible front compartment would really help in my travels.
I’ve never had a hard-sided bag. What I like most about the Torq is the easy-to-access front compartment.
Have never had a hard sided bag. The loading proportions (80/20) should make getting clothes in a (comparative) breeze.
1. Never had one.
2. Front compartments are most valuable.
I’ve never had a hard sided bag.
Lifetime warranty is the most attractive.
Never used hardshell. I like locking front compartment
Used to use hardside, but not enough room. I like expandable interior and Makrolon shell.
My 2nd day entry! ‘No’ to the first question. For the second question, the most helpful feature is the durable material (Makrolon); we all know how rough baggage handlers are.
I have never used a hard-sided bag (that is until I win). I am interested in the secret middle layer featured by the TORQ collection.
Have you ever had a hard-sided travel bag? No
What TORQ™ feature do you think is most helpful to the frequent traveler and why? Molded compression panel to keep my clothes from wrinkling
I never own any hard case luggage and would love to win one esp this one since it seems to open easily in the front, easy open access
Never owned a hard-sided bag
The warranty definitely!
I’ve never owned a hard-sided travel bag…
I think the TORQ iPad sleave is most helpful to me as a frequent traveler. Great access!
I have never used a hard-sided bag.
I think the durability would be the most useful for a frequent traveler.
1) Nope.
2) The spinner wheels would make carrying on so much easier than my usual duffel
1) I have used a hard-side for checked bags, not for carry -ons. I found higher end hardsides to be amazingly durable.
2) Would love a light hard-side for a carry-on as my carry bags take a lot more abuse than my check bags and something this durable would be perfect.
1) Never had a hard shell bag before
2) Briggs & Riley Control Panel (patent pending) is my favorite feature as it allows secure and easy access to laptop, books and even my carry-on toiletries
Nope and I think the Control Panel is most helpful because it safeguards souvenirs and other valuables against theft: especially important for certain airports/countries.
1) Never had a completely hard shell bag before now
2) 80/20 opening rather than 50/50 clamshell like other hard shell luggage would be most important to me — I hate 50/50 designs which require much more space to keep them open in a hotel room.
1. Never had a hard side bag
2. Love that outside pocket
1. No.
2. I like that it is covered by lifetime warranty!
No, have not had the luxury of owning a hard sided bag.
The Control Panel is a terrific idea showing that much thought of frequent travelers has been in the design of the luggage.
