  1. I have never had a hard-sided travel bag. For the large spinner, I think that the 4 wheels would be the most useful feature

  2. I do have a hard sided, 4 wheeled bag but it’s from Costco and while functional, it lacks the functionality of the Briggs & Riley line. I like the laptop/important paper carrier you can pop open without opening the entire bag. Hope I win – a new bag would be ideal for my trip to Israel and Istanbul in August!

  3. 1. Never had a hard sided bag.
    2. I really like the zipper-less front side compartment, which would be very useful for when you need to quickly retrieve something – particularly when the bag is still in the overhead bin.

  4. I’ve never had a hard-sided bag because the 50-50 clamshell opening wasn’t practical to me. The 80-20 split solves that issue.

  5. never owned a hard-sided suitcase, but anxious to try.
Love the “spinner” effect, although never had that either

  6. Had a very large Samsonite many moons ago. The suitcase itself was so heavy that it created problems.
Would like a carry-on with 4 wheels, think that would make it a lot easier than just the 2 wheeled carry-on I have now.

  7. Have owned a hard-sided case before, and it unfortunately got considerably dented. That was a check-in bag.

Like the thought of hard-shelled carry-on; seems it would be perfect for fragile (ie, photography) items. So, this appeals to me.

  8. PS I like the 1 entry per person per day routine as stated.

I dont have a hard side bag, and also think that it is smart looking and one of the features I would like is not havingto go through so many replacements, when the “Samsonite Gorilla’s” get done with them.

  9. 1. Never owned a hard-sided bag
    2. Love the front compartment for my electronics.

  10. 1) I’ve never had one but always wanted to try one!
    2) The front compartment is awesome!

  11. 1. I have not had a hard case carry on. I have had hard case check in bags
    2. The feature that I like the most is the outside handles that they have providing more room for even packing

  12. I’ve never had a hard-sided travel bag, but I’ve often wondered if they’re as amazing as everyone says they are! My favorite feature of the TORQ is the front exterior compartment, as the lack of one is a huge reason I haven’t purchased a hard-sided bag before. It will definitely be useful when traveling! 🙂

  13. 1. Haven’t had a hard-sided bag of any stripe before.
    2. The wider wheelbase should make it easier to travel through the airport faster.

  14. 1. Yes

    2. I like the idea that these TORQ bags have the 80/20 top-lid opening like traditional luggage. One of my complaints with other hard-sided luggage is it requires too-much floor space to access both sides.

  15. Never had a hard-sided bag before.

It’s a small thing, but the 80/20 split will really make a difference in the ease of packing, closing, and opening the bag. Otherwise you have clothes packed in both sides!

  16. 1. I have never had a hard-sided case

    2. I feel the most important element is a not-too-small front area for getting at travel items like tickets, maps and itineraries.

  17. Have you ever had a hard-sided travel bag?
    No

What TORQ™ feature do you think is most helpful to the frequent traveler and why?
polycarbonate material because its durable and lightweight

  18. No – never had a hard-sided bag before.

I think the hard-sides will be interesting to experiment with as a “feature”. I’ll bet you can’t shove one of these in an overhead bin as easily, but I’d imagine it protects the stuff inside better.

  19. No, I have never had a bag with hard sides before.

The lifetime warranty is a very attractive feature.

  20. I’ve never had a bag with hard sides before.

The compartment to store tablet/laptop is a great feature – easy access!

  21. Never used a hard sided bag before. The greater interior packing capacity from the Outsider handle system sounds appealing.

  22. I’ve never had a hard sided bag.
I think the greatest feature is the warranty. Business travelers can really wear out their bags and knowing that repair is a phone call away creates great peace of mind.

  23. I have never had a hard-sided bag. I really like the easy access front opening.

  24. Decades ago I had a very old grey Samsonite that was very heavy and had no wheels. Love that these look like the complete opposite.

  25. Had a nice and very cheap hard carryon until I checked it and it got a hole in it.

The Torq’s best point looks to be the nice little front pocket (and the zippers).

  26. We use a Samsonite hard sided case that works well and has lasted for many trips / miles..However the the handle for the wheels takes up interior room which I find annoying. The Outsider handle feature on these Briggs and Riley pieces look great – nice feature!

  27. Have you ever had a hard-sided travel bag? Nada.

What TORQ™ feature do you think is most helpful to the frequent traveler and why? The design (exceptionally wide, tilt-resistant wheel base and proprietary recessed spinner wheels), because nothing is more important to a frequent traveler than gliding through airports during tight connections and saving precious time.

  28. I have never had a hardside bag.
What TORQ™ feature do you think is most helpful to the frequent traveler and why?
I think the best feature is the warranty.

  29. Never had one, but have been considering purchasing one for awhile. Like the front pocket. Most of the hard cases I’ve seen do not have exterior pocket.

  30. 3rd entry!: ‘No’ to the first question. For the second question, the most helpful feature is the durable material (Makrolon); we all know how rough baggage handlers are.

  31. I use Pelican brand hard cases for my camera equipment. For me the best feature of the Briggs & Riley TORQ bag is the side compartment for my

  32. 1.. Never had hard-sided bag, but wish I had!
2.) The outside handle and lay-flat function would making packing a breeze!

  33. I have never had hard-sided luggage. The lifetime warranty is a very appealing feature.

  34. Never owned, but used one a few times and loved it.
I’m interested in the ‘secret middle layer’

  35. My current ones are hard-sided, but they are wearing out. Front compartment sounds useful.

  36. I have the Briggs intl and its awesome. My wife wants the new hard shell
    Best feature – warranty !!!
