Starbucks My Rewards is continuing it’s coffee war with an expansion of their My Rewards redemption capabilities. They have already crossed the red line on October 15, 2013. It’s yet to be determined how others will respond to the maneuvering but the changes may have significant impact on their loyal customers. Here is a run down of the change in their strategy.
My Starbucks Rewards Adds Reward Options

- You can now redeem your rewards for bottled drinks, including Evolution Fresh™ juices, as well as for handcrafted beverages, brewed coffee and food items* at participating Starbucks® stores.
- Rewards are also redeemable at participating Teavana® specialty tea stores for beverages or loose-leaf tea.
- In addition to your free birthday reward, you now get a 15% off coupon** at StarbucksStore.com to make your special day even better.
Terms And Conditions

They’ve also been running a lot more promotions (I’ve been a Starbucks rewards member for 3 or 4 years now). They’ve done a couple star dashes (collect so many stars in a given period and you could get a $5 or $10 gift card), as well as ways to earn bonus stars (for example, they had a promotion for like 5 days over the weekend that you would get 3 stars for every breakfast sandwich). It’s a great rewards program. I especially like the way you can add value from other starbucks gift cards to your registered card, and then still earn more stars. That way, you don’t miss out on earning rewards just because you are given a gift (one of my friends and I now essentially pay each other in starbucks gift cards).
Like some of these addition especially the 15% off coupon. Just wish they would add another tier above Gold for those members who can attain it easily.
