We recently shared how World of Hyatt Extends Tier Status And Benefits in Asia Pacific Region, as they’re going to be helping members who live in the Asia Pacific region by extending their elite status and benefits for another year due to the Coronavirus, which will significant impact travel.
It turns out that Marriott Bonvoy has decided to offer a similar extension for their members living in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The status extension only applies to those who had their country as one of the above listed in their profile as of February 1, 2020.
Marriott Bonvoy members with elite status ending February 29, 2020 will now have their status extended through February 28, 2021. This applies to all levels including Ambassador, Titanium, Platinum, Gold, and Silver Elite members in the three countries listed above.
Additionally, those who have suite night awards that would expire the end of this year, will have these extended as well as any free night awards now through December 31, 2021.
Hat Tip: Dan’s Deals
Considering many airlines have cut flights completely, it’s great to see that Marriott has taken this initiative. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see US airlines also adding something similar in place for those who also reside in Asia.
