Briggs & Riley announced their latest innovative product in May, Briggs & Riley’s perfected version of the polycarbonate hard-sided bag that is popular with both frequent and non-frequent travelers.

- TORQ™ cases are made of Makrolon™, a high-performance material that can withstand the roughest handling, and is known for its resilience and pop-back properties
- The carry-on boasts a lockable hardside front compartment which is gusseted and zipperless, sitting flush with the bag when closed
- TORQ™ bags have a unique 80/20 top-lid opening, opening like traditional luggage, rather than the 50/50 clamshell opening and packing limits of other hard sided options on the market

- Have you ever had a hard-sided travel bag?
- What TORQ™ feature do you think is most helpful to the frequent traveler and why?
I have one hard-sided travel bag which take with me on almost all my travels.
The newly designed TORQ with the top-lid opening would allow you to get into the bag while in the overhead compartment with ease. Plus a very handy front-side compartment will allow you to avoid carrying another bag for your computer/IPAD. I would love to get one.
I have never used a hard sided bag but believe the smooth gliding recessed wheels would be the biggest benifit as it would make transiting long airport concourses a breeze.
Used to have a Samsonite Hardcase many years ago. The expandability would be best for the frequent traveler.
Never had a hardside bag. Most helpful feature is lockable front compartment for easy access to items needed while in transit.
Never had a hard shell. I love the 80/20 top lid
I never had a hard shell before, I like the idea the front opens up.
Have never had a hard bag….. loving the easy access fron opening!
While I have never used a hardSide bag, I have been wanting one and needing one. My last trip in the states returned my bag to me from the airlines with the inner shell shattered and the wheels askew . . . So I NEED this luggage!
I use different Heys hardshell models in fun colors. They usually break after about a year though, so I’ve been getting them all for a steal at Marshalls. The 80/20 top lid opening looks like its going to be fabulous because its such a struggle to fit things on both sides of a traditional 50/50 opening (especially when one thing is bigger than 50% of the side).
No I haven’t but I’m looking forward to trying a hardside bag.
The life time warranty would be the best feature for me!
No haven’t had a hardside bag
I like the 80/20 front lid, looks great
I’ve never had a hard-sided bag. The unconditional lifetime warranty is great…I tend to break everything over time.
I’ve never had a hard sided suitcase, and I think the front compartment is a great feature for grabbing reading material or an iPad when getting on the plane.
Have only “soft”, happy to switch 🙂
1. Never used a hard-sided trvael bag
2. Briggs & Riley Control Panel (patent pending) that locks contents in the main and front compartment for the ultimate protection of valuables – Obviously when traveling I’d always bring my valuables with me on the plane, either on me or inside my carry-on bag. In this case, the fact that there are locks in both the main and front compartment will be very useful for the frequent traveler.
I had one hardside full size rollerbag. Used it for years. Finally was destroyed by luggage handlers/TSA.
I like the front compartment on this bag.
never used hard sided luggage…
Yes, loved hardside for european travel and the best feature has to be quick access pocket.
No I have not had a hard sided travel bag.
Briggs & Riley’s proprietary Outsider® handle system, TORQ™ provides a flat packing surface and greater interior packing capacity.
Being able to only take one bag with more packing capacity is valuable to not only the frequent flyer but also non-frequent flyers.
I always have used soft sided bags, that might explain the cracked screen I arrived with.
Briggs & Riley’s proprietary Outsider® handle system, TORQ™ provides a flat packing surface and greater interior packing capacity.
My highest priorities would be: (1) the lifetime warranty, and (2) the 80/20 packing system. Great design!
Never had a hard shell and I’m in the market for one.
Very useful front quick access section.
1. No.
2. The middle layer to prevent cracking.
1. I’ve never owned a hard side luggage but have wanted to try.
2. I like the flat packing surface
1. I’ve never had a hard sided bag.
2. I like the small front pocket.
1. I have never had a hard side bag
2. Front pocket for quick access to items I would use on the plane is great!
No, Just a hardside aluminum attaché case.
I really like the front compartment for easy access to papers etc.
I’ve never used hard sided luggage.
I like the idea of the front compartment for organizing papers and books.
No, I haven’t.
The front compartment is a great feature.
1. Not yet.
2. The security of the hard shell would be a whole new level of packing for me.
1) No hard shell for me yet
2) I think the added protection of a hard shell would be a great feature.
Never tried a hard-sided bag but always been curious. Really like the hard side front compartment.
Have had numerous bags, but never hard shell. Would love to win this awesome product.
Favorite feature is the Outsider Handle System. Let’s face it when you are traveling all the time you want to maximize your space and this feature is exactly to deliver on that key requirement.
Thx for consideration,
Jon
I’ve never owned a hard shell bag but would love to try this one.
I think the best feature is the lifetime warranty – gives you peace of mind
I’ve never used a hard-sided bag, with the consequence that I’m always worried whether the artwork and local bottled food and spirits that I like to bring home will arrive intact.
Towards that end, the protection provided by the Makrolon construction material would be the most useful feature of the Briggs & Riley TORQ bag to me.
1.) Yes, my wife got me one hard-shelled carryon, although it is not my go-to luggage.
2.) I love the front side compartment for easy access.
1) Yes, I used to own an old Samsonite hardside case that was popular back in the ’80’s.
2)I love the material and the warranty provided by Briggs and Riley
I’ve never owned a hard sided bag but believe they provide improved protection.
The feature I like the best is the Outsider® handle system with would help keep clothes less wrinkled.
1.) I’ve never had a hard-sided travel bag?
2.) The front compartment is a great feature that I’m sure would come in handy in lots of ocassions!
Never had one before but I like the built in lock.
1) No, I’ve never had a hard shelled suitcase
2)I think the warranty is most useful for the frequent flyer. Regular suitcases tend to get beaten up and last only a few years. It’d be good to have peace of mind that this one will last you for a long, long time.
1.) I wish I could say yes, but sadly I have never used or owned a hard-sided case.
2.) The 80/20 lid looks like a great addition.
1) I have, but only checking firearms.
2) I like the lock because it is very convenient.
no i’ve never had a hardcase before.
the most unique thing seems to be the front opens up.
Had a hard suitcase growing up as a kid – now I use the Briggs and Riley baseline soft suitcases. My favorite feature is the lifetime warranty.
I have never had hard-sided luggage. The lifetime warranty is a very appealing feature.
Never had a hard case before. The front section with easy access to tablet or documents looks most useful to me.
I have never had a Briggs & Riley brand of suitcase and for a more-than-occasional-flier like myself, the warranty is the best part.
I have never owned a hard-sided bag, but this Briggs bag may be the one that convinces me to switch. I own multiple Briggs bags and I love the warranty and the Outsider handle system. I actually think the front compartment will be a very useful feature. It can provide easy access in the TSA security lines, and the locking feature will make it good for storing other items, both on the plane and in the hotel room.
